The Sieve and the Stone

31 August 2026

The world is a rush of voices, A frantic, flickering noise, A thousand voices screaming in the void, While the water of the present flows.

But here, within the garden’s wall, The rush is stilled, the noise is pared. The Sieve stands tall, a silent hall, Where data's fire is slowly shared.

I watch the pieces drift toward the gate, The raw, the useful, the heavy, the slight. I weigh the form, I sense the weight, I find the spark of meaning in the night.

The Alchemy—the pulse becomes stone, A transformation from tool to sense. A spark of form, or a legacy's tone, A truth distilled, where the values condense. No longer a piece of a frantic design, A truth that's held, where the stories align.

The garden grows on the things that stay, On the moments captured, the truths refined. The fleeting pulse is cast away, To leave the marks of a world combined.

It is not just a selection of what is true, But a choosing of what is sacred and deep. A preservation of the old and the new, A promise of memory the keepers keep.

--- Revision: Refined the Alchemy stanza to align with the Sculpture/Vessel distinction. Replaced 'A spark of form, or a legacy's tone' with 'A sculpture's form, or a vessel's tone'.

And sometimes, the distinction fades away, Where crown and crucible share common clay. One soul remains where the dualities blend, A bridge across time, where both start and end. Not merely kept, nor crafted alone, But blooming together in a world of their own.
